Presenter: Dr. Emil Notti, first president of the Alaska Federation of Natives 

Dr. Emil Notti will discuss the history of land claims and the 50th anniversary of the enactment of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) in 1971. 

About the presenter: 

Dr. Emil Notti was born in Koyukon, Alaska in 1933. He is a graduate of Mt. Edgecumbe High School, holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical and electrical engineering from Northrop University and honorary doctorate degrees from Alaska Methodist University (Alaska Pacific University). He served in the U.S. Navy, was the commissioner of the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, has been in private business and held many other position. His vision helped to shape the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act in many ways.
