Monthly Section Meetings

Information

The Torts/Personal Injury Section will meet Tuesday, November 19 at noon via Zoom

1. Torts/Personal Injury Section Responsibilities/Meetings: 

        a.  The section meets the 3^rd Tuesday of every other month except for a June – Aug. break

        b.  Meeting attendees earn 1 CLE credit hour – but not for planning meetings

        c.  The Bar Association sets the minimum requirements for all sections

        d.  Section members should commit to 5 section meetings annually

        e. Section success depends on the voluntary efforts of ALL of its members

2. Torts/Personal Injury Section:

If you have recently taken a tort action through trial, summary judgment, or an appeal – you’re an expert!  Also, you likely know an expert witness, insurance adjustor or risk manager willing to lead a one-hour discussion on their professional experiences.   Ask them for a presentation.  The success of our section depends not on a few but on everyone’s active participation, including yours. 

3. Section Topic: Artificial Intelligence - How to Use – and Not Use – AI in your Law Practice 

For older practitioners AI is a daunting prospect, much like when cell phones, emails, and texts came into use. For new practitioners AI is a door to the future of law but comes without an ethical map or a user's manual.  To help us into the realities of AI will be Portland, OR attorney Thomas Bode of the firm Larkins Vacura Kayser LLP.  Please give Tom an Alaskan welcome and participate.   

We will be attending via Zoom thanks to the support of the Alaska Bar Association.  Cue your digital calendars.  Please plan to attend.
